Cross Rock Hunting

Last week some friends and I went hunting for cross rocks. We got to the dam at about 9:00am and left at about 3:00pm.  I really did not look but here is how you do it:  Get a little strainer thing (beach toys), scoop up some sand, and then shake it until all the sand is out.  The cross rocks and bigger particles will be left in the strainer.  The shore was all dried out so searching was not so easy usually the shore is flooded so you can sit down and pick through the lagoons but it was all dry.  We built a fire in a old fire pit we found,  We found a grate but we did not have anything to roast on it.

Our sitting area where we had lunch and built a fire. It was shady and had nice logs around it.
My sister and dad went fishing and caught 14 fish!
Here is one of the fish they caught! Cool huh?

The rocks go through the dam and the water turns the rock turn into crosses.

Take A Day OFF*

Last week I went to a event put on by the DNR called Take A Day OFF*.  There was many different stands to teach about fishing, turkey hunting, archery and wild life conservation.  After you visited the booth they handed out tickets, after you collected six tickets, one stand let you spin a wheel to get a prize, I won a backpack.
